Curacao Prime Minister Ivar Asjes Resigns on Monday --- Lack of Support from his Political Party.

ivarasjes31082015WILLEMSTAD/St. Maarten: --- Curacao Prime Minister Ivar Asjes tendered his resignation on Monday citing lack of support from his political party. Asjes was sworn in on June 7th 2013 by acting governor Adele van der Pluijm-Vrede.
Shortly before Asjes resigned the members of his faction Pueblo Soberano called an urgent meeting where all five Members of Parliament from PS faction informed him that he no longer has their support to be the head of Curacao’s government. After that meeting Ashes called an extra-ordinary meeting with the Council of Ministers of Curacao where he informed the other members of his cabinet and officially tendered his resignation. Around 5 pm on Monday Asjes visited Governor, Lucille George-Wout, to make his resignation official.
Asjes told reporters he will give a statement on Wednesday.
By 5:30 pm Monday Minister Ben Whiteman went to the Governor to officially assume the position of Prime Minister of Curacao.
The party (Pueblo Soberano) said in three months things should be reestablished and be back to normal.
For quite some time there have been feuds between Asjes and his party, especially the MP’s from PS. The Curacao population was quite aware that there were internal problems within the PS especially with Asjes and that at some point things would have boiled over. Curacao still has a government that is counting on the support of 11 members of parliament.
