NTBC Champion of the Kings providing wholesome programs during the summer vacation.

championofthekings12082015PHILIPSBURG:--- Champions of the King, New Testament Baptist Church Children’s Bible Club have been providing wholesome programs for the children of St. Maarten, between the ages of 4 till they complete 6th grade, every Saturday afternoon between 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The program consists of fun games, practical Bible lessons, life-changing challenges, snacks and outings. Anyone who attends enjoys it.

For special occasions Champions of the King organizes various special events like for Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas and Back to School.

For the past 10 years the Champions of the King, under the Leadership of the New Testament Baptist Church, on Cannegieter Street in Philipsburg have been organizing a “Back to School” prayer walk. This event takes place each year on the Saturday before school re-starts in August. The participants meet at the church for prayer then form groups and travel to each of the schools on the Dutch side and pray at the school gates for all the Teachers, Students and any others involved who will be passing through those gates for the upcoming school year.

We pray for things like proper leadership to manage the schools; dedicated staff and students; respect for each other; excellence amongst staff and students; sufficient resources to meet all educational expenses and pray against things like rudeness and disrespect amongst teachers and students; cheating, lying, fighting, stealing and such like behavior.

The general public, especially teachers, parents and students are invited to join this year Prayer Walk on Saturday, August 15th. You are asked to meet at the New Testament Baptist Church (next to KFC) at 5:30am. After joint prayer the group will be divided and sent off to the schools in the various districts to pray. Each group will be given copies of the list of specific things to pray for at each school gate and they are free to add any other items they feel are necessary.

We look forward to a large cross section of our community joining us that morning as we pray for our children, teachers, school systems and the island in general.

Prayers will not be limited to just that morning, but the participants are encouraged to continue praying for the same requests throughout the school year.

As a continuation of our Back to School activities, Saturday, August 15 in afternoon starting at 2:00pm, Champions of the King hosts a Back to School Fun Day in the church yard. This will involve games: bouncer bouncing, bottle jumping, balloons popping, blindfold bowling, Bible story time, singing, surprise time, snacks time and lots more fun activities for school children of all ages. We will also be sharing out school supplies to those who attend. This event is free and open to all children. Don’t miss the last fun activity right before school starts again.

On Sunday morning, August 16, at 10:00am, Pastor Nolan Nanton, and the church members invites everyone and announce that there will be a special “Back to School” service, under the theme this year being “Rise and Shine Like Jesus”, taken from Luke 2:52 - "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.", where the program is geared especially toward the students, teachers and parents. Special prayers will be offered for those present and special messages and motivational speeches shared especially for those returning to school and involved in education in any form or fashion.

Pass the word around – call up your friends, school mates, neighbors – Everyone is welcome to these special activities.
