Coastguard issues safety recommendations for ‘August Monday’

PHILIPSBURG:----For the up-coming event of ‘August Monday’ on 3rd august 2015 on Anguilla, the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard is issuing some boating safety recommendations.

Please take in consideration of the rules and regulation of Country St. Maarten for sea worthiness.

For example:

  • Registration numbers and letters on both side of the vessel
  • Personal Floatation Devices
  • Visual Distress Signal (flares, floating smoke signals, etc)
  •  Fire Extinguisher (check the expiration. date)
  •  Sound Producing Device (a whistle or an air horn that is not a human
  • produced sound)
  • VHF- radio
  •  No sailing under the influence (alcohol and drugs)
  • Valid certificate of competence
  • Valid certificate of sea worthiness.
  • Hereby some extra advices that you can follow:
  • Mobile phone with a good working battery.
  • Enough drinking water.
  • A good working torch.
