GEBE Employee accused of stealing copper.

PHILIPSBURG:--- A contractor who agreed to demolish six old engines at GEBE power plant in Cay Bay in order to create space for the LPG gas is now running to the supervisory board of directors for monies to pay his employees.
SMN News learnt that the contractor who is a Dominicano agreed to demolish the six old engines at GEBE power plant which will become his property along with the copper he removed from the engines for the work he did at GEBE. A source close to both the contractor and the Supervisory Board of Directors told SMN News that the contractor did not sign a contract with the former COO who gave him the job without placing it on bid. However, he did make some strange agreements, one being that the six old engines will become his property along with all the copper he removed. SMN News learnt that while the contractor and his workers worked for at least three months to demolish the engines and clean up the area a long time employee of GEBE managed to steal a truck load of the copper and sold it for $40,000.00 leaving the contractor and his workers out in the cold.
According to the information SMN News received the contractor is now asking the Supervisory Board of Directors to pay him for the work he and his workers did now that the copper was stolen and sold. SMN News learnt that the head of security of GEBE is busy writing a report on how the copper was stolen and sold. This report it is understood should be available to the Supervisory Board sometime next week.
SMN News further learnt that the contractor was supposed to make about $1.5M with the materials he removed from GEBE power plant and he allegedly had a verbal agreement with Maduro to give him 33% of his earnings when the work at the power plant is completed.
