Power-Packed Weekend With G.I.F.T.E.D. Foundation – Artistes to do school tour plus free concerts!

giftedyoungnominees27052015PHILIPSBURG:--- GIFTED Foundation is gearing up for their third SXM Weekend of POWER for May 28-31, 2015. The youth-empowerment foundation has teamed up with Curtis Jordan's 'Caribbean Gospel Music Tour' out of Trinidad and Kevin Smith's 'A Betta Tomorrow' of Jamaica to produce four days of activities. This is an event packed with the Praises Of Worshipers Empowered to Rule where several local and international artistes will be touring schools and performing in concerts, including Icha Kavons, Gitta Dan, Sean Daniel, Nisa Nora, Roxsy, DRJ, Rizon and DJ Nicholas.
POWER School Tours
On Thursday and Friday, May 28th -29th, the Daughters of Zion and Sons of Thunder artistes will drive energy into elementary and high schools with motivational speeches for the St. Maarten youth. Schools slated for the visit are St. Maarten Vocational Training School, Milton Peters College, St. Maarten Academy, St. Maarten Academy PSVE, Sundial School, Prins Willem Alexander School, Ruby Labega School, Genevieve DeWeever School, Methodist Agogic Centre Campuses 1 and 2, Seventh Day Adventist School, Leonard Connor School, Oranje School, Charles Leopold Bell School, Charlotte Brookson Academy, Martin Luther King Jr School, and the Belvedere Community Foundation Afterschool Program. Sint Maarten is the third stop in the Caribbean Gospel Music Tour amongst Trinidad & Tobago, Anguilla and St. Kitts.
Daughters Of Zion
On Friday, May 29th, the Daughters of Zion will host an all-female cast concert at the Belvedere Community Centre in Belvedere at 7:30pm. Local gospel artistes and ministers such as Roxsy, Domonique Fleming, and Charmaine Wilson will share stage with Ayanah, Nisa Nora and other visiting artistes. All youth and youth groups are invited to come out to this free event with MC Ife Badejo.
Sons of Thunder
On Saturday, May 30th, the Sons of Thunder Bigger Better Louder Concert will also be held at the Belvedere Community Centre starting at 7:30pm. This power-packed ministry and worship event is at no charge to the patrons. The Sons of Thunder cast has a full line up of young men with positive music to share with the community. The list includes DRJ and Castel Abraham of St. Martin, Kittitian Dominic Brookes, Congolese-Canadian Icha Kavons, Shawn English of Guyana, Kevin Smith of Jamaica, Blessed Messenger, Gitta Dan, Sean Daniel, and Curtis Jordan of Trinidad and Tobago. The event promises to be energizing and electrifying.
Young King Awards
The activities close on Sunday, May 31st at 6:30pm at the Port de Plaisance tent with the launch of the A Betta Tomorrow SXM project, featuring the first annual G.I.F.T.E.D. Young King Awards and a fundraising concert towards the social improvement initiatives to be done in partnership with schools and youth groups.
Eleven high school students have been nominated by their school's administration in five different categories. The nominees in their respective categories are: for Young King of Academics are Clifford Francois and Gain Spadaro Franco; for Young King of Athletics are Missael Benitez and Joshua Bowers; for Young King of Community Service are O'Heny Loredent and Nadjee Walters; for Young King of Expressive Arts are Wanderson Deridort and Jabari York; and for Young King of Leadership are Adante Pitter, Shakir Peterson and D'Angelo Philbert. The public can show their support for their favourite nominees by liking their photo profiles and videos on GIFTED Foundation's Facebook and Youtube pages.
The highlight and close-off show will be hosted by MC DJLJ and feature local artistes Shawn J, DRJ, Roxsy, and Ricardo as well as international performers Kevin Smith, Rizon, and DJ Nicholas.
