AVA Airways calls for a Statement of Apologies from Curacao Government’s Minister of Finance Hon. Dr. J. Jardim on False and defamatory statements.

olivierarrindell08052015Willemstad:--- With astonishment Ava Airways Curacao took notice of an announcement made by the Interim Minister of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning, Dr. Jose Jardim ("Minister of Finance"). The Minister said during a televised interview that the AVA's economic permit was rejected, because the airline did not have all the necessary documents for this permit. This Statement is a false statement by the Minister. Ava Airways never receive a letter of rejection from the Government of Curacao on its Economic permit. On April 29, 2015 The Minister take it on his own will without the approval of his coalition partners PNP to send Ava Airways a letter asking Ava Airways for one more document in which Ava Airways has provided to predecessor Minister of Transportation Earl Balbarda.
Ava Airways does not finds it to be professional on the part of the Minister to use the name of Ava Airways to pull a political stunt one day before the inauguration of the New Minister of Transportation Hon. Suzanne Camelia-Römer. The statements made by Minister Dr. Jardim are false, defamatory, Slander and constitute tortious interference with business, and as such, are actionable under Curacao law.
Ava Airways Chairman Olivier Arrindell stated that Ava Airways is looking forward in working with the new Minister Hon. Suzanne Camelia-Römer in corporation to take the corrective process measures, with the objective to restore justice and fairness towards Ava Airways in the more than 15 months duration of Government & Aviation authority dealing of this Economic license request. Therefore to decide with immediate effect to approve the license of Ava Airways, thereby correcting the previous processes, in the interest of free competition and good economic climate for the future of Curacao and all its inhabitants
Minister Suzanne Camelia-Römer indicated on national radio that she is also looking forward to meeting with the Ava Airways team to work out all matters in the interest of fairness and is committed to the national interest of Curacao Aviation sector.
