Prosecutor’s Office Refused to Divulge information on Isidora Murder Investigation.

akeemisidora05032015PHILIPSBURG: --- The prosecutor's office along with the Landsrecherche have remained extremely tightlipped on the murder investigation involving officer Rishmer York who shot Akeem Isidora in Happy Estate Belvedere on the night of March 4th 2015 with his service revolver. On Tuesday reporters from almost all news agencies on St. Maarten asked press prosecutor Tineke Kamps for an update on the ongoing investigation since they already named Officer York a suspect. However, press prosecutor Tineke Kamps insisted that she was not going to make any comments on the ongoing investigation. Despite being told that the lack of information from the prosecutor's office has shed a bad light on the Police Department because many persons in the community have been condemning KPSM for covering up for one of their officers. It should be noted that the investigation into the brutal murder of Akeem Isidora is conducted by the Landsrecherche and not KPSM. Shortly after the shooting Kamps had told SMN News that the prosecutor that is dealing with the case wanted to arrest Officer York but her colleagues in the Prosecutor's Office advised the Prosecutor not to do so, citing that they need more people or evidence before they can arrest the officer who fled the scene after the shooting and went to the Philipsburg Police Station where he told his colleagues and the investigating officers that he acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Akeem Isidora.
SMN News learnt that the detectives at the Landsrecherche felt they had enough evidence and that York should have been arrested but their advice went on deaf ears. SMN News learnt that while York shot three bullets from his service revolver, a fourth bullet was found in his vehicle, however that information cannot be confirmed since the Prosecutor's Office have refused to say anything about the ongoing investigation. Two of the three bullets that were fired hit Akeem Isidora who died on the spot while the third bullet was found in a wall as Officer York aimed at Junior Isidora but his shot missed his target. Officer York was dating a neighbor and friend of Akeem Isidora who works for the Coast Guards.
York has been suspended ever since the shooting incident that claimed the life of 20 year old Isidora who was residing in the Netherlands but came back to St. Maarten for the holidays.
