MARIGOT:--- A local resident on French St. Martin attacked the President of the Collectivity Aline Hanson on Friday morning. According to information reaching SMN News, the resident known to everyone as "Lino" attacked President Aline Hanson just around 8:45 am in front of the Collectivity as she arrived at the Collectiving to begin her days work. SMN News further understands that the attacker hit President Hanson with a 'frying pan" SMN News alsolearnt that the attacker has been arrested by the Gendarmes. Lino is a well known resident who composed and sang the song "St. Martin is my Home."The press service of the Collectivity of St. Martin confirmed the attack but said they do not have much details at this current moment but promised to dispatch a press release later today.
SMN News contacted the Captain of the Gendarmerie Sylvain Jouault who also confirmed that the President of the Collectivity was a victim of aggression Friday morning. He said the suspect is well known to the community and he was arrested by the Police Territorial and later handed over to the Gendarmerie who placed the suspect in "Garde a Vue" Jouault said that the gendarmes will also have the person analyzed by a psychiatrist and or phycologist to determine if the person is in his right mind this he said will be part of the ongoing investigation. Jouault further stated that the Gendarmerie will not make any further statements but they will leave that to the press service of the Collectivity.
Aggression of the President
The President of the Collectivity Aline Hanson was victim of an aggression on Friday morning. An individual was waiting for her at her parking space, in possession of a bladed weapon, and damaged her physical integrity. The intervention of the territorial police helped to end this sudden and violent attack. President Aline Hanson was immediately taken to the doctor, then to the gendarmerie, where she filed a complaint. Her physical condition shows a few hematoma (bruises) at the level of her hand.
The gendarmerie and the territorial police intervened efficiently. The investigation will have to determine the exact circumstances of the aggression, as well as the motivation of the individual.
