PHILIPSBURG:--- Vernice Whatts David, a cancer survivor and resident of Cole Bay is pleading with authorities to take the necessary actions to have her neighbor remove the carcass of a dead cow that died behind her house some eight days ago. The woman and her husband said that they discovered the animal after they got a heavy stench coming from their backyard. Following the stench they found a huge cow dead in the bushes. "The animal belongs to one of my neighbors but this young man has very bad attitude. When I discovered the dead animal I contacted the Simpson Bay police outpost and I basically did not get assistance. On Monday when I realized that the police in Simpson Bay were not giving any assistance I went to Philipsburg Police station to get help. The police I met with did not even want to listen to us, they told us it's not a police problem that I should check with the Ministry of VROMI. My husband and I went to VROMI and we also got a run around there, they sent us from one department to the other and finally we were given the phone number of a butcher and when we contacted him by phone he said he was on vacation and that I should go back to the Police Station." Whatts David said that when she went back to the Philipsburg Police station she was told that she should hurry back to her home because the officer she dealt with in the beginning has instructed a patrol from Simpson Bay to go to the location. The burntcarcass18012015woman said when the officer visited the scene the officer had to run because the stench was so high on Monday afternoon. Whatts further explained that a officer "Meyers" spoke to the owner of the animal and told him to go to the fire department to get some paperwork done and the fire department will go with him where the dead animal was and they would burn it. She said surprisingly early Tuesday morning the young man light the carcass alight and no one from the fire department was there. She said when they saw the huge fire which is just behind her home she called the fire department and they told her they gave the young man a permit to burn the dead animal. "I want to know how can the fire department issue a permit to burn something like that on my property without even informing me, furthermore, how could they leave someone burn a huge animal without supervision? The woman provided photos of the dead animal and also the remainder of the carcass after it has been burnt. She said that even though the owner burn the animal she is not able to open her windows and doors or even go outside because the decaying animal is smelling so bad. " I am a cancer survivor and I have to inhale all of this and I went to knock on every door and eight days later I just can't get help."
