MULLET BAY:---- The annual face-off between the Dutch side and French side golf teams in the Concordia Cup was won by Team Saint Martin. After 3 years of dominance by the St. Maarten team, the French side recaptured the Concordia cup with a score of 14 to 13 points.
The two day tournament that is yearly organized around St. Maarten's Day was reduced to one day due to the torrential rain on Friday and Saturday morning that battered the golf course and made it impossible to play or for players to reach the Mullet Bay golf course.
On Sunday morning, under soggy though sunny conditions the best 18 golfers of the Dutch and French side faced each other for their first test. While the Fourball matches were skipped as a result of the shortened tournament, the French side took a comfortable 5.5 to 3.5 point lead after the Foursomes matches (alternate shot) in the morning.
After enjoying a delicious combined team lunch on the course, both teams went out on the course again in the afternoon for their individual Single matches. The Dutch side was able to fight back and win this afternoon format with 9.5 to 8.5 points but in the end is wasn't enough to overcome the deficit of the morning and beat the French side, who were crowned the 2014 Concordia Cup Champions.
After all the fierce battles on the course had come to a conclusion the Dutch and French side enjoyed drinks and snacks in great camaraderie at the Mullet Bay Golf Course.
