Curfew Lifted as of 6.00PM; Businesses catering to service sector can reopen at own discretion; Motorists should avoid flooded areas and remain at home if you don’t have to be out

GREAT BAY (DCOMM):----  After a review of the current situation in the country and a review of weather reports, and after careful consideration, the curfew will be lifted as of 6.00PM, Saturday, November 8th.

Businesses that care to the service sector are allowed to reopen at their own discretion. Employees who reside in areas seriously impacted by flood waters should look at personal safety.

Motorists who do not have to be on the roadway should remain at home out of harm's way.

Compromised areas due to flood waters such as Pondfill in Philipsburg, and other inundated areas throughout the country, should be avoided.

The Walter J. Nisbeth/Pondfill road up to Guana Bay intersection entrance will be closed off to traffic. Ministry VROMI is busy with mobile pumps to remove the water from the area.

People should avoid walking into flood waters due to the possibility of electrocution and the run-off water being contaminated. Children should refrain from playing in the water and parents should advise them accordingly of the dangers.

Avoid hillside areas due to the threat of mud and rock falls.

The Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten will be releasing their latest weather forecast within short.
