Lady suffers minor injuries during accident.

BUSH ROAD:--- On Tuesday September 30th, 2014 at approximately 2:50pm police patrols, police traffic department personnel and paramedics were sent to Le Grand Marche on Bush Road to investigate a traffic accident in which a lady suffered minor injuries. On the scene the investigating officers spoke to the owner of the vehicle with license plate P-7380 that was involved in this accident. He stated that his 11 year old son was in possession of the car keys while he was busy loading groceries in the trunk of the car. His son started the car in order to turn on the air-conditioning, however the car which was in the first gear drove forward and accidentally hit a female pedestrian on her right leg. The owner also stated that he reacted immediately in order to prevent this accident from happening, but was not successful. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The victim did not sustain any broken bones but suffered a sprain to her right foot. After being treated the victim was sent home.

Suspect in the shooting death of Emilien Kruythoff arrested.

On Tuesday September 30th, 2014 at approximately 3:15pm, a male suspect in the shooting death of Emilien Kruythoff with initials N.A.C (30) was arrested on the Windsor Road in Cape Bay. During a search of his residence a small amount of cocaine and a small caliber handgun was found and confiscated for further investigation. The investigation is still ongoing.

Inmate stabbed several times at Simpson Bay prison cells.

On Wednesday October 1st, 2014 at approximately 12:35pm, several police patrols, detectives, forensic department personnel and paramedics were sent to the Simpson Bay prison cells to investigate the stabbing of an inmate housed at that facility. On the scene the victim who was stabbed several times was treated by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment where he remains for observation.
Up to press time no reports of any arrests had been made. Who the suspect is or suspects are in this case is still unknown. A search is being conducted in the prison to locate the possible weapon used in this stabbing. The investigation is ongoing.

confiscatedhandgun01102014Man arrested and resists heavily against police, illegal gun found in his possession.

On Wednesday October 1st, 2014 at approximately 12:30pm while at the round-a-bout in Dutch Quarter (Tata the Bus Driver road-a-bout), a police patrol saw a man riding a white scooter without a license plate. The rider was also not wearing a helmet. The scooter rider stopped at the gas station and he was approached by the police officers. The officers noticed that this man became quite nervous. While getting closer to the rider he suddenly started the scooter and took-off at high speed knocking one of the officers to the ground. The rider, in his attempt to get away, lost control of the scooter and fell to the ground. At this time the officers tried to arrest him but he resisted his arrest severely. During this heavy struggle the officers noticed that this suspect had a gun stuck in his waist. After the struggle the officers were able to put the suspect in handcuffs and removed the fully loaded .40 caliber Smith &Wesson pistol from his waist. The suspect with the initials L.A.D. (24) was arrested on the spot. The pistol and scooter of the suspect were both confiscated for further investigation. The officer that was hit by the scooter suffered several bruises and scrapes to his arms and legs and complained of pain in his right leg. He will seek medical attention.

Police receive verbal threat.

Shortly after the arrest of L.A.D. for resisting arrest and illegal firearm possession in Dutch Quarter a verbal threat by an anonymous person came in on the police main phone line stating that they will deal with the police officers who were involved in this arrest. The police department is making it clear to those persons who are making these idle threats that the task of the police is to serve and protect this community. The police will not take these threats lightly and most definitely will not be intimidated by them. Police officers have a duty to perform and that is to provide safety and security for this country. The police will stop at nothing to carry out the duties they have sworn to carry out.
