Suspect arrested for illegal firearm possession.

arrestedfillin26092014PHILIPSBURG:--- Acting on information coming into the Police Department that at the funeral of the late Emilien Kruythoff which took place in on Friday September 26th, 2014 at the Cape Bay Cemetery several persons at that ceremony would be carrying firearms, several police officers conducted an operation to locate these fire-arms. There were reports of several shots being fired in the air at the cemetery. During the investigation a gun was found in the vehicle that a man with the initials L.R. (30) was driving. He was arrested for illegal firearm possession and taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where he remains for questioning. The firearm was also confiscated for further investigation. No one was injured.

Two arrested for theft.
Two male suspects with the initials M.D. (18) and J.L.M. (16) were arrested on Friday September 26th, 2014 after a short foot chase by police in the Cole Bay/Cape Bay area. A report came into the Central Police Dispatch that a supermarket on the Wellington Road had just been robbed and that the suspects had fled on foot in the direction of Cape Bay. The police immediately started to search for the suspects and spotted them in the area of Tropicana Casino. They took-off running but were caught shortly after. The suspects had stolen several bottles of Hennesy Cognac from the supermarket. The suspects were taken to the Philipsburg Police station for questioning.
