Suspect Arrested in young boy’s death remains in pretrial detention --- Body sent to the Netherlands for Forensic Analysis on Cause of Death.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Haitian national that was arrested last week when a two year old boy died at the St. Maarten Medical Center remains in pretrial detention confirmed Prosecutor Tineke Kamps. Kamps also confirmed that the body of the dead toddler was sent to the Netherlands for further forensic examination and an autopsy as police are trying to determine the exact cause of death of the two year old. Kamps said that it is expected that the autopsy will be conducted by the end of this week and police should have a better idea as to how the young boy died shortly after he was taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center. SMN News learnt from reliable sources that the pediatrician that was providing medical treatment felt that the child's injuries were suspicious and he called in police. The child died shortly after.
The mother of the toddler told SMN News last week that her son died of a seizure and the only reason the doctor felt that something else was wrong with her son was because he had diaper rash between his legs.
