Philipsburg:--- St. Maarten lost another great son of the soil early Wednesday morning while the government and police were busy preparing to celebrate Constitution and Police Day. Bailiff Karl "Tall Boy" Arndell passed away peacefully at his home early Wednesday morning. Ambulance personnel rushed to the home of Karl and Lia to revive him but their efforts were not fruitful. Arndell has served as a Bailiff on St. Maarten for over 25 years and was the last of the older marshal heads that was still alive.
Police Inspector Turchan "Pico" Simons told the gathering at the St. Maarten Roman Catholic of Tours Church that Tall Boy performed for the Police Culture evening Tuesday night. "Just over 12 hours ago I saw Tall Boy when he performed for us and his passing has come to us as a real shock." Karl has left to mourn his wife Lia, two children, and several siblings.
