Flights rescheduled at St. Maarten airport due to weather conditions.

SIMPSON BAY:--- Due to the weather conditions associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Raphael, the KLM flight from Amsterdam was diverted Sunday to Curacao. Passengers bound for St. Maarten on that flight were later placed on a charter flight from Curacao operated by Insel Air. Insel Air 593 landed safely at the Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) Sunday afternoon, according to airport authorities.

The Operations Department of the airport further stated that Air France 351 A has been added for Monday, October 15. It will overnight here and depart on Tuesday, October 16.

The following flights had to be cancelled on Sunday, October 14: American Airlines 1376, Air France 3510, KLM 785, LIAT 550, and WINAIR 660, 539, 541, and 441.

It is expected that as soon as the weather conditions improve, the situation will return to normal with all the scheduled flights.
