PHILIPSBURG:--- Territory St. Maarten held its Toastmasters International Speech and Table Topics Contest at the Carl's Unique Inn on Tuesday April 29th, 2014. Winner of the International Speech contest for Area 23 Cheryl Dangleben-York and winner of the International Speech contest for Area 24 Ashayna Nisbett thrilled the audience with their communication skills while they vied for the coveted title. Ashayna Nisbett emerged the winner and captured the title for the International Speech contest.
Kathia Magdeleine winner of the International Table Topics contest for Area 24 was the lone contestant for the territory of St. Maarten in this category and she did a fabulous job displaying her quick thinking and impromptu speaking skills.
Contestants Ashayna and Kathia will represent St. Maarten in the Toastmasters International District 81 May Conference to be held in Antigua and Barbuda at the Jolly Beach Resort and Spa from May 16th to May 18th, 2014.
Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training for District 81 and Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Valerie Brazier emphasized to the audience the importance and benefits of attending District 81's May Conference under the theme of 'Unlock your Potential'. DTM Valerie Brazier invited and encouraged all Toastmasters as well as the public to take the opportunity to get involved and to learn more about Toastmasters International on a higher level by attending the May Conference.
Area 23 Governor Sinatra Rouse and Area 24 Governor Malcolm Jacques would like to take this opportunity to thank all judges and counters for their revered services.
