President of Parliament says fire personnel committed to ensuring safety and security of citizens and visitors.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Fire Department of St. Maarten this week is observing Fire Prevention Week which is being organized by Fire Prevention Section of the Fire Department and Friends of the Island Government Fire Fighters Foundation.

The week is celebrated worldwide and a number of activities have been organized to raise fire safety awareness within the community.

The theme of this year's Fire Prevention Week is "Protect your family against fire. The time to act is now."

President of Parliament Hon. Drs. Rodolphe Samuel, congratulates the men and women who work with the fire department and wishes them a successful Fire Prevention Week.

"The personnel at our fire department are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living here and visiting our country.

"Fire is a serious public safety concern. I urge all citizens to practice home and work fire escape drills especially during Fire Prevention Week, and to support the public safety activities and efforts of St. Maarten's fire services," President of Parliament Hon. Rodolphe Samuel said on Wednesday.
