Reza Amjad Appointed to TELEM Board.

E-mail Print PDF

Philipsburg: --- The National Alliance/ Heyliger and Laveist Government have appointed Kendall Dupersoy and Reza Amjad to the supervisory board of TELEM. Both Amjad and Dupersoy were appointed some two weeks ago. Newspaper reports stated that the board has appointed the elder Amjad to the board of TELEM, which caused some confusion since several prominent St. Maarteners, said they are not in favor of the appointment made by the NA/Heyliger and Laveist Government.

Some said the only reason the National Alliance has appointed Amjad to the board is because the elder Amjad supports the National Alliance financially.

Reza Amjad holds a degree in communication and is willing to serve St. Maarten. He also manages his own company on the French side of the island.

Dupersoy on the other hand was an employee of TELEM and has served the company for three years some eight years ago. He is currently working at the Princess Juliana International Airport.

Sources say that certain politicians are using reporters to publish false information since Imran Macsood Amjad has no interest in holding any positions in government and he could have been reached by phone if the reporter who wrote the story was interested in clarifying their facts.

In an invited comment, Leader of Government William Marlin said Amjad was appointed to the board of TELEM.

Well indeed a beautiful new beginning. What has happened to all the St. Maarten people. Can one believe that there are no St. Maarteners who can sit a Government Company Board. The NA/Heliger/Laveist Government should be shame of themselves. This is a downright insult to the people of this island. Very, very sad.

Now isn't this is interesting. Manager of Marshall motors has been named to Telem's board. Isn't this a conflict of interest? Did you guys know that Marshall Motors is where all the gov't vehicles are leased from? Did you guys know that they just got a new set of top of the line Hyundai's for executive council? There was an article in paper other day with ppl questioning why new vehicles. Here is your answer folks.

Both parties do the same thing, they look into their smal box and come up with people to put on these boards. Granted these are different people who would not be considered by the DP to sit on any board. Their nominations still have to be discussed on the floor of the island council and get the votes in order for both gentlemen to take their positions.
Kendall has an IT degree and has worked in the Communication field. Mr Mcsood has a Communication degree, so nothing carzy here. However, from the eyes of a St.Maartener, Mcsood may not have been the most suitable candidate. Atleast these two gentlemen are young and educated and hopefully will make conscience and practical decisions which will best elevate the company on whose board they will sit.

I totally agree with the appointment of Kendall, but not Mcsood.
I would like for you to reconsider Mcsood appointment and find some other person. Yes you have a job to do and the it has to be done, but we need St. Maarteners and Antilleans who has the right motives, a clean heart and integrity. Yes he has the education but you should also look at his track record and the name that he has been making for him self. I know that we have educated St. Maarteners and Antilleans who can fill the position on the board.

NA, please take note to our comments, we have our support and we know you can and will do better. May good help you in all the dicisions that you still have to make. CHANGE THIS ON FAST.

So, to Appointments... In your writing, you feel that there are no St. Maarteners/Antillians educated enough to be on the Board of Telem; that we need Mcsood. Well NA/Heliger/Laveist, better think again. THIS IS THE BIGGEST INSLUT to the people of this island yet. Say what you like about the DP, they would never, never have done this to the people of this island. PLEASE TO FIND ST, MAARTENERS/ANTILLIANS FOR THESE POSITIONS. We are seeing this as "Pay-back" time to Mr Mcsood and his family. You all have gone crazy as hell.

and we are talking about 10.10.10, for Country St. Maarten and can't even find our own people to SIT ON A BOARD of a company, but talking about running a country, unless Mr Mcsood will be the next or first Governor of Country St. Maarten. Commisssioner Marlin, you shoud be ashame of yourself to defend this on the floor of the Island Council. Theo, I know that you cannot live with this on your heart. No way. This is truly unbelievable. With elections coming up my brothers, you all will better be very careful "if" you are planning or wish to stay in office. GET MR MCSOOD OUT OF THERE AND LOOK FOR ST. MAARTENERS/ANTILLIANS.

I understand that most "St. Maarteners and Antillians" are upset but I believe that Mcsood was naturalized to dutch and he is qualified, the companies he is managing are all pretty successful. There may not have any BETTER qualified "born here" St. Maarteners to take the job. Eitherway I understand most people believe he was given the job because he is for National Alliance which may be TRUE. However he is still QUALIFIED for the job. So ask yourself this would u rather have a unqualified St. Maartener there or a qualified foriegner. I don't think anyone will agree with this post, but it is just my opinion.

Where does the heart of Reza stand. Is he here physically but mentally/emoitionally tied to Guayana. If his heart is here, he will do a good job, if not he will turn Telem into Marshall (country guayana).

People of different nations that make children here should instill in their children a sense of belonging, they are sxmners. You confuse them when you tell them that they are ja's, gyne's etc., so if this is not my country why not destroy it, nothing to loose!

Marlin, Heyliger call sxmners back home, country coming, get in line! If you are out of the house too long you would not know which room is yours.

This is the mentality that contiuously hinders the success on our island. Rightfully so Mr. Amjad may not be a born St. Maartener, however he has lived all his life here and indeed naturalized. The individuals that appointed him to the board must have some level of common sense to believe that this young man is capable of undertaking his responsibilities to the best of his abilities. We should be focusing our energies as St. Maarteners to enhance our island, not work against eachother as we are currently doing!!!

After reading these comments I would like the Nay Sayers a few questions.
1. Did the qualifed St. Maartiners applied for the post. If they did how many of them were appointed.
2. Where is Jairo Bloem from? and Needless to say the former CEO that received a salary of Euros 20,000 monthly and what did he do for TELEM?
3. Does all the nay sayers forget that Maria Buncamper Molanus and the DP crew appointed Tooncha to the same board and what was the out come.. Do you all forget the $25,000 and Sky is the Limit.
4. Does Amjad have a political party and does he have a foundation to take TELEM monies for?
5. Reza Amjad... Can anyone say where he grew up and where he got his education. And having a Dutch pa*sport does not give him equal opportunities??

6. Can someone tell me why these comments were not posted when The Democratic Party appointed Imran Macsood Amjad to the EDC board?

7. Is it right for the DP to make these appointments and Bad for National Alliance?

Just need some clarity and I am urging fellow St. Maarteners to answer the questions.

When you want to accuse Joan pleaase do it correct.
1. You CANNOT APPLY for these board positions there nonimations.
2. Jairo Bloem is from Curacao which has been DUTCH since anno 1500 . The former CEO was a DUTCH consultant for a period of 1 year to do a specifiec job which he didn't complete due to political games been played.
3.Toontje Buncamper was appointed to the board by the executive council and yes my dear the US$ 25.000,- to Sky is the Limit was for a show that was clearly spent. But then again that ain't what you want to hear. Ask who APPROVED the US$ 25.000,- check and your mouth might just fall open.
4. I don't know what he has or not as he's not THAT STUPID to let us know as he has seen what happens when you try to help others with a foundation. Secondly his father was a huge campaign supporter of the NA to the tune of over US$ 3million dollars (bet ya didn't know that one)
5 I don't know where he grew up (I believe USA) but I know for sure he did his university studies in the USA. Having a dutch pa*sort makes you dutch and I support your statement that equal opportunity should be granted to all, unless we specify something different in the law.
7. There's no bad in making appointments by no one, once the appointmenst are justified. Reading the above I believe the Reza appointment is just simply a political payback. Let's she how the manoeuvering will be on the board to get certain specifics done with companies in certain places. Time will tell it all.
YA remember Louie attack on Maria. Just a bunch of lies and when the Telem story comes out as the report is ready we'll see what maria did.

Well at least you tried answering the questions I am sure to the best of your abilities. The DP executive council know fully well that appointing Tonchie to the TELEM board was a conflict of interest. If you know who approved the $25,000 then put his or her name here. The truth should come out.
Reza have US Degree or was educated in the US makes him less educated?
The DP extended Drent contract to six months before they left office. What did he do, No excuse on politics. Can a St. Maartiner get that salary?
And finally how much monies did Imran Macsood give the DP, because I know he was a DP supporter. But sure they are angry he pulled the plug on them...

People, lets stop being so very BIAZED.
I just want to say that when we all need sponsorship we dont see if NAGIGO is run by a local or not. WE ALL GO KNOCKING ON THEIR DOORS. Then its all good and well for MC SOOD to be seen as someone who came here to live amongst us.
That same NAGIGO company has been here with us for the last 25 years. They were here with us when Luis and all the other hurricanes knocked us up. They never left us and came back after the gra*s started to grow again. Like some of the BIG NAMES INSURANCE COMPANIES.
NAGIGO and Motor World are constantly sponsoring all types of events on SXM, whether black or white, rich or poor, young or old, local or foreigner. We can all count of them.
Then finally, just take a look at the many locals who are employed with their company. This is totally different from the other companies who stick to their own and call our local people lazy.
We cant only want good when it benifits us and say we want locals and but when we need help then its okay to be one of us even though you werent BORN HERE.
I am a BORN HERE, I try to stay out of POLITICS, because I find it makes ppl act like and behave ugly. Especially those craving for POSITIONS.
But in the long run we have to mature ppl and call a spade a spade. This is like USING PPL for what we want and then DUMPING THEM when we dont need them anymore.

Lol. You all can bicker back and fort. I said this, publicly, over 15 years ago: "Good bey SXM, here comes ltl. Guyana".

I am totally against the appointment but I have so many reasons why, that I cannot even bother to list them.
All I can say is, Payback sweet for real and this is just the tip of the Ice berg.
McSood has landed and is here to stay.

You fools with your "I am from here" or "born here" mentality. Parents should show their kids what is happening while they out there playing gang members and leaders. Get a damn education and then say "I born here".

McSood son is just one of the thousands of Dutch children who look like Indian and Chinese. They born here too or at the least hold the same Dutch pa*sport like all of you who feel because you black you are the true Dutch Antillians.
The difference is that they are making use of the same educational opportunities from "right here". The same one what all of you "born heres" bashing. They are going away to study and coming back, big pay or not, and will get all the better jobs and positions.
Their parents taught them to be humble and creep first and then climb their way to the top of the mountain.

Thanks to NA/Heyliger/Laveist Govt. the plan is now becoming a reality.

Nonetheless, there are enough educated of "US" here on the island to take on these tasks, but again the NA has to do what the NA has to do and that is repay Mr. Mcsood. So I will painfully say, Welcome Itl Guyana.

Born Here: Graduated in Holland--INHOLLAND apply for a job in my place of birth (SXM) and guess what....I have to cut my hair (locks)in order to get the job that I apply for. Locks is a in style thing. In holland I got a job the same day that I went for an interview, working with an international company. People/businesses need to wake up and smell the koffie, we are not coming back after we achieve our degree because we are dbeing descriminate in our own Island. On the other hand the new government (our leaders)is making who already had a job to leave where they are working and come work for them. Why not employ who dont have a job. All of this BS have to stop. We are educated, born here and cannot get a JOB.

I hope none of your kids are not out there playing gang members and leaders. These are the things that are misleading our youth.

Don't blame McSood he is doing his part, what he knows how to do it best.. Born here or not if you want something you have to pay for it. Either with money (which most sxmners don't have, because they build condos for $50,000.00 and those are now being sold for 10 times) or with hard work (8 to 5 and underpaid, look at the high cost to live)! I can never stop the saying "I BORN HERE" because it is the truth, even if I don't like some of the things that are happening here. Sxmners are crying out and I cannot understand why foreigners are mute. They came here because things are better than in their country, boy sxmners would die if they had to exchange places with these people. The game is: sxmners fight with your gov't and we will wait and conquer. Don't get upset, this is just how it happens (immigrate)!

To: Get real.
1- The dutch have a law that they cannot discriminate against minorities. So trust me they are not very happy with your locks either. The difference is ... they don't have a choice because you are a minority.
2- The "DUTCH pa*sport holding" Indian, Chinese or other heritage young folks educate themselves, fix up and fit in with society to land the jobs they seek.
3 - You don't have to accept society's norms (style) but society does not have to accept your norms either.
4 - Yes, thankfully. Mine too has weathered the same educational system that so many are complaining about, humbled and made it, right here were he was born and ancestors back to slavery are from, did not need no locks or gang to do it. Does not work for a boss and has many of them "foreign" business owners as clients.
But hey, power to you and your locks.

To: Attitude change.
1 - McSood work hard and made it. No one disputes that.
2 - I agree that if you born here, you born here and have a right to say so. But ...... is it only the black "born heres" who have a right to say so? What about the Indian and Chinese or other, none black, born heres who were born with the Dutch Nationality? Don't they have the right to say the same?
3 - Anyhow, "ltl." Guyana has nothing to do with where you were born, it has everything to do with who is in power.
4 - Indeed, by having a change of attitude "ltl. Guyana" does not have to exist on sxm. But at the rate the "Majority" of our born here "black" youth are going, I have to say ltl. Guyana" cannot be stopped.
Hey, Don't blame the messenger. We all have equal opportunities, it is how you make use of it that counts.

People wake up, being a "born here SXM'r has nothing to do with the color of your skin or where your parents are from. Those same people you bash are just as "born here, SXM'rs and Dutch" as any of you. Stop playing the blame game. Teach your children to properly educate themselves, get common sense and stop sitting back and crying fowl. Help them to fit in, dress properly, speak properly and conduct themselves according to corporate standards. That is the only way to make it in the future, no matter where you live or where you from. While you sit back and b***h you are letting opportunity pa*s you by.
